Professional Services for OpenVAS

The OpenVAS project offers a full chain of software tools to manage network security scans and continously develops Network Vulnerability Tests (NVTs).

Traditionally, the OpenVAS project is entirely dedicated to the Free Software concept. This is not in conflict with commercial aspects. The professional support for OpenVAS by nature is transparent for the customers - they directly see what they pay for. OpenVAS faces up to any sort of review for source code and internal concepts. Available professional services:

• NVT and OpenVAS feature developments:
  • Intevation GmbH (Germany): Can be contracted for software development on the OpenVAS tool chain. Intevation already developed various new OpenVAS improvements under contract. However, Intevation will only accept tasks that are accepted by the community in the form of a Change Request.

  • SecPod (India): Focussed on NVT development as a current major contributor to OpenVAS (200+ manually developed). SecPod is familiar with all internals of OpenVAS and adds features to the tool chain.

  • SecuritySpace (Canada): A developer of NVT's used as part of its security services, and a current significant contributor to OpenVAS' NVT test suite.

  • Eifel Consulting (US and Germany): Can be contracted for developing documentation. Documentation can be developed for public use or for specialized internal company deployments.

• NVT feed subscriptions:
  • Greenbone Networks GmbH (Germany): Offers the Greenbone Security Feed, a reliable feed service with systematically developed and verified scan routines for OpenVAS. Greenbone, focussing on quality assurance and support for subscribed customers, coordinates with Intevation and SecPod on NVT and OpenVAS developments.

• OpenVAS Support: Help for any problem related to setting up and operating an OpenVAS installation.
  • Eifel Consulting (Germany and the US): Offers professional installation and support services for OpenVAS. Eifel Consulting is an active contributor to the OpenVAS project. We offer both remote and on-site support.

• OpenVAS Training: Courses to learn how to use OpenVAS and optimize it for individual purposes.
  • SecPod (India): Offers a 3-days course on OpenVAS administration. An add-on 2-days course introduces into NVT development. Trainings are in English language and could be executed on customer site.

• Turn-key solutions:
  • Greenbone Networks GmbH (Germany): Offers the Greenbone Security Manager, a dedicated Vulnerability Management security appliance. It integrates the full (fine-tuned) OpenVAS tool-chain, additional scan-tools, a web interface, remote control (batch processing), a administrative console interface and subcription to the Greenbone Security Feed.

Many other ideas are conceivable. Committed and competent companies are welcome to offer such services. The OpenVAS project as such will not set up any commercial services. However, coordination with the OpenVAS team is appreciated for the benefit of all parties involved. You will not get listed if you do not actively involve yourself with the OpenVAS community.

Professional services will ensure a sustainable feed with a stable and comfortable OpenVAS tool chain, all being Free Software.
